What is Vaxxy?
VAXXY is an easy to use and convenient platform that allows pharmacies or other healthcare clinics to offer travel clinic services via a web based application.
How is Vaxxy different to PGDs?
Unlike Patient Group Directions (PGDs) VAXXY provides its travel clinic services through a prescribing framework, where a private prescription is issued following consultation with the Clinician in-store. The vaccination can then be administered against this prescription.
There are no upfront costs with VAXXY, your account is FREE.
Furthermore unlike PGDs VAXXY provides marketing material for all its clinics and being customers to their doorstep via online advertising. Also as all records are electronic there is no need to have tons and tons of paperwork
I already have a PGD running; can I also use Vaxxy?
Yes. We understand that PGDs are paid for upfront and there will be obligations to continue with the PGD to make the most of your initial spend. As there is no upfront costs with VAXXY and you will already have training done, it will be easy to setup this app to run alongside your PGD to increase footfall and your travel clinic business. Please note: all patients directed to your through VAXXY must be serviced through our prescribing framework and not PGD as per our terms and conditions.
How much does this service cost?
There are no upfront costs to sign up with VAXXY and there is no subscription fee. You only pay a commission fee of 20% to VAXXY on the profit made from each appointment booked through our service.
Is there a contract between Vaxxy and my pharmacy?
Will Vaxxy help me bring in travelling customers?
Yes. We aim to target your area through online marketing to increase your travel clinic business. In addition to this VAXXY will provide your clinic with marketing material such as posters and leaflets which will allow you to promote your clinic locally at GP surgeries, travel agents and through other signposting avenues.
How can I become a Vaxxy Clinic?
Simply visit our site and sign up as a VAXXY pharmacy and Clinician. Following this your application will be reviewed by our clinical team to ensure you are trained to provide the service and that your pharmacy is suitable to operate a travel clinic. Once both of these have been approved you will get details for your account and you are good to go!
Who sets the prices for this service?
The prices at currently set by VAXXY. This is to avoid any confusion for customers when booking and to ensure there are no conflicts of interest between participating parties. Prices for vaccinations and antimalarial tablets will always be competitive with local travel clinics services and will be tiered depending on region.
What if I have problems using the website?

Who will issue the prescriptions for the vaccinations and antimalarials?
All prescriptions will be issued by our UK Clinician independent prescriber, who has many years of experience in provision of travel clinic services in a community setting.
How do I take payments?
You will either be required to take payments in store or process it through our website. All payments will be taken online via the VAXXY website or app. We take payments using Elavon and Sagepay as our payment gateway providers to ensure all transactions are secure. VAXXY will initially take 100% of all payments processed through the system whilst for payments made in store, you will initially receive 100% of the payment. A running total will be calculated weekly, with a raised invoice or payment made against the balance.
What training do I need to run this service?
All clinicians need to be trained to provide travel clinic services before starting a VAXXY clinic. We provide face to face one day travel clinic training via ECG, in addition to this we require all clinicians to complete the online GSK Pharmacy Training Programme. The day long training with ECG costs £149.99+VAT per person while the GSK online training is FREE.
Training with ECG should be renewed online annually and every 2 years for the face to face training.
Training certification can be uploaded onto the VAXXY website following completion and you will receive email prompts to remind you when your refreshers are due
How quickly do prescriptions get issued following consultation?
Our prescribers ensure they are readily available to approve prescriptions following completion of the in-store consultation. This will ensure there is minimal lag time between the two elements and all appointments will be time efficient.
How will appointments be booked via Vaxxy?
Customers will be able to book there appointment at the preferred clinic and time via the VAXXY website. The pharmacy will receive a notification of this appointment request on their account and will have the option to accept or decline the appointment. If the appointment is accepted the patient will receive confirmation of this.
Is there someone I can talk to if I need help conducting a travel consultation?
Yes. Clinician will be able to speak to our travel clinicians if they need any advice regarding any patient consultations, to ensure we always provide safe and effective care through VAXXY. All pharmacists will be provided with a direct contact number for our prescriber and other travel clinicians following registration.
Can I vaccinate children with Vaxxy?
Yes. All individuals will be trained for basic life support and injection technique for children aged 1 year old.
Can I add other Clinicians under my pharmacy account?
Yes. By logging into your portal you can invite locum Clinicians to join your pharmacy and provide travel clinic services under their account.
Does the Vaxxy platform comply with all pharmacy record keeping requirements?
Yes. At VAXXY patient confidentiality is of utmost importance. We have numerous procedures in place that are regularly reviewed to ensure we abide to the standards expected from all UK health service providers. We use high level encryption for all information collected from patients on our website and have strict protocols in place at our head office premises. All records are stored securely and safely in line with GPhC requirements.
